Are you ready for a chance to win more beautiful nativity ornaments from another talented artist? This week's ornaments come from Mike's Wood Crafts.
This set of three ornaments is handmade from cherry wood and features the Holy Family, the wisemen and the shepherds. I love the way the figures tell the story, although they are made of wood, they aren't "stiff". I like how the camels and shepherd seem to be caught in motion.

My favorite Christmas memory is when my parents sold some of their own things to buy us a horse. We woke up Christmas morning to a foot of fresh snow and as we were looking out the window at the wonder of snow...down the drive came my dad on the back of a spotted apaloosa horse. We were all so excited and had no idea of the sacrifice made for us until many years later. It was magical.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas memory is each year when our family would divide up my dad's Christmas bonus and drop off envelopes of money to people in our neighborhood who needed some financial help. My parents were great examples to me of the real meaning of Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI love the Snowmen ornament from Mike's etsy shop.
ReplyDeleteOther then the 3 ornaments you have here...my other favorite in Mike's shop is the big nativity with fretwork....so detailed and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember is that after the late mass on Christmas Eve we would come home and bake up a fresh and warm batch of chocolate chip cookies. Most of these were to be for Santa. When we got older we would come home and do the same thing but the goal was to catch up with everyone. (there are 7 siblings in my family). The thing is that this tradition has been brought into my siblings and my life because we do this with our families too.

ReplyDeleteFavorite memory...opening presents at MIDNIGHT Christmas eve!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Christmas memory is when my children were youngsters and the excitement of the stockings. This goes on still but at 28, 24 and 20 the excitement is a bit dulled!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the snowman ornament mainly because in our tropical country no snow!
ReplyDeleteA favorite Christmas memory from my childhood is the year my dad made wooden doll cradles and ironing boards for my sisters & I. The ironing boards were each sized according to our height & my mom made fabric covers for them. The handmade gifts are so special. I passed my doll cradle onto my daughter & now its in the attic to save for her future children.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite christmas memory is the year we did the twelve days of christmas to a family we knew that needed food and toys. We put tons of effort into it and put together 12 amazing baskets. I think they had a better christmas that year than our family did. It was very cool.

My favorite memory is waking up really early on Xmas morning with my sister and brother and sneaking out to see what santa brought us...there was this set of play handcuffs b/c we were into CHIPS on tv...I handcuffed my brother and somehow the key got misplaced...enter my mother...up telling us to get back to bed...my brother sneaked past my mother wearing those handcuffs and slept the rest of the night like that until daylight when the key was found.
